The reference site for Solutrean monumental sculpture: around 19,000 years ago artists carved a frieze of horses, bison, ibex and a charging musk-ox onto limestone blocks below this Charente cliff. The original sculpted blocks are in the National Archaeology Museum; casts at the site evoke the frieze in its original setting.
