The Lower Pecos Canyonlands of southwest Texas contain some of the finest and best-preserved rock art in North America, painted over 4,000 years. The distinctive Pecos River Style features large, polychrome shamanic figures associated with peyote ritual and vision questing, rendered in extraordinary scale and complexity.
