Rediscovered by the artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco in 1965, this shallow rock shelter southeast of Manila carries 127 engraved figures of humans and animals, the oldest known artwork in the Philippines. The stick-like forms are thought to be linked to healing and childhood rituals.
