Rock Art of Alta Located far above the Arctic Circle, the Alta rock carvings comprise thousands of petroglyphs illustrating the lives of hunter-gatherers in the far north.

Vingen Rock Carvings In a lonely cove on the Frøysjøen strait, more than two thousand carvings cover the shore rocks — herd upon herd of red deer, along with curious hook-shaped staffs and spidery human figures, made between roughly 4000 and 2000 BC.
